Senior Service Engineer
We need a Senior Service Engineer to help with deployment of sensors at customer sites, remote customer support, field engineering improvements and customer success.
Looking for someone who loves new challenges, highly organized, and is a creative thinker. We are a small startup and this position is a great way to be involved in a wide range of tasks at a growing company. This position has high potential for advancement into a number of different positions.
Key Responsibilities
Client Install and Support:
- Visit client sites to perform installation of units and provide support.
- Troubleshoot installations as required, either remotely or through site visits. Answer customer calls and emails and provide accurate solutions. Solve straight-forward issues and problems by way of remote or online guiding.
- Record error logs.
- Be responsible for safety practices and safety improvements for client sites, installations and support departments.
- Suggest additional deployments to clients where logical.
- Other client support tasks as required.
Build out of installation and support processes:
- Build the service department and knowledge base and process documentation of our core product.
- Summarize the FAQ and share with team members.
- Provide feedback on product and process improvements. Discover and document recurring issues, implement fixes designed by the R&D department. Be involved in new products R&D with installation and support perspective and input.
- Alert manufacturing on products quality control, or propose product improvement direction, or work out complete solution for installed base.
Education, Background and Skills
Required:
- Bachelor degree or above in analytical chemistry/applied chemistry/environmental engineering/hydrology/electronics/automation, or other applicable degree
- 3-5 years working knowledge of analytical instruments
- Working experience in applying instrumentation technologies in the mining, mineral processing, and/or metallurgical industries; experience in other industrial water treatment sectors will also be considered
Desired:
- Instrumentation knowledge in high voltage low current electrical systems, low flow precision plumbing, and automated computer controls
- Knowledge of plasma systems and spectrometry
- Experience with remote connection to cloud services including via cellular modems and other tools
- Experience in commissioning new technologies
- Experience in client facing roles
- Experience in start-up an asset.
The ideal applicant will have the following skills:
- Can independently apply professional knowledge to solve complicated problems, have technical analysis and practical ability, can diagnose and find root cause, and propose solutions through analysis and hands-on observation;
- Effective oral and written communication skills with English, Spanish would also be a benefit but not required.
- The ability to work independently. Self motivated with good communication skills.
- Self-motivated, good communication skills, team work spirit and work under pressure.

Salary Estimate: $90,000-$100,000 plus options
Location:
Can be remote or in office in Victoria, B.C., Edmonton AB, or a combination. Travel to client sites around the world is required, though mostly in North and South America.
